Led by their congregation’s Christian Family Organizations (CFO) officers, brethren in the Local Congregation of Wailuku, Ecclesiastical District of Hawaii-Pacific, held as their INC Giving activity a clean-up drive at Kanaha Beach Park, Amala PI, Kahului, Maui, Hawaii on May 5, 2025.
Located adjacent to Kahului Airport, the beach park is four miles away or a 12-minute drive from the congregation’s house of worship. Known for its scenic view of the West Maui Mountains and favorable offshore breezes, it is often visited by wind surfers and kite surfers.
“In Hawaii there is a saying called ‘Malama Aina’ and that means to care for the land,” said choir member and Children’s Worship Service (CWS) teacher Dexter Saldua. “Through this activity, I’m helping other people to live in a cleaner environment.”
In keeping neat the beach park’s two-mile long stretch of sand, the brethren used gloves, trash bags, and other tools in removing trash and debris. Right after, they further bonded while enjoying the delectable food they prepared for everyone to share with.
“Through this activity, we show our community that we’re here to help and support especially in cleaning beaches and other areas that need more attention as trash can build up,” explained Shaina Disitacion, choir member and CWS chairperson.
Wailuku Congregation is one of the 21 local congregations, together with three group worship services, that are under the supervision of Hawaii-Pacific District with Brother Gem Baitan as its supervising minister. — With reports from Brian Aniciete of INC News Section
