Children’s Worship Service (CWS) members from the Ecclesiastical District of Edmonton, Canada, participated in the cooking competition ‘CWS Little Chef’ at Rosslyn Community Centre along 134 Ave. NW, Edmonton, Alberta on April 13, 2025.

District supervising minister Brother Rolando Gaviola and assistant Brother Felmar Serreno oversaw this culinary tilt of dessert-and-sandwich-making by the young members. Brother Napoleon Manalo Jr, the district edification overseer, joined them in judging the competition.

All 14 local congregations sent their representatives. In a limited time, they prepared and presented their respective dishes based on the criteria, which are taste, plating, and originality. Afterwards, winners received trophies, who were as follows:

Dessert Making Best in Presentation: Callingwood, Alberta and Leduc Congregations (tie)

Callingwood: Lyra Bravo and Lexi Din

Leduc: Rachael Garcia and Riley Garcia

Dessert Making Best in Taste: Kathiana Bitangcol from Ellerslie Congregation

Sandwich Making Best in Presentation: Empress and Rajah Formales from Eastwood Congregation

Sandwich Making Best in Taste: Logan Quinitio and Pristine Babadilla from Callingwood Congregation

“I’m happy to have participated in this activity,” expressed Quinitio, who made Beef Brisket Sandwich. “Cooking is an important skill and I learned to help my teammate in preparing our entry.”

“I like how my fellow young members were cheering me on to do my best,” expressed Bitangcol, who baked a mango float. “I felt nervous and thought that I’d make many mistakes but, in the end, I was happy to be able to participate and win.” — With reports from Brian Justin Tacneng
