“We’re grateful to God first, and to you. Because you’re the ones who walk in the path of concern for the people. Everything that is in this care package is a necessity. The people really need this help,” said Óscar Mendoza López, the deputy municipal agent in San Miguel el Grande, a municipality in the state of Oaxaca, México.

In partnership with the Felix Y. Manalo Foundation, Inc., the Ecclesiastical District of Central America reached out at the said municipality and that of Tlaxico on August 7 and 8, 2025. These socio-civic efforts were both led by district supervising minister Brother Jonathan Jamias.

San Miguel El Grande

The outreach event there was held at the municipal hall of Iturbide, San Miguel El Grande. Given were a total of 25 care packages, which contained basic necessities, such as rice, salt, sugar, oil, flour, among others.

Municipal agent Domiciano Mendoza Cuevas attested, “There are the elderly and also young people who are sick, men and women … they can’t work anymore. What you did was a great help for them.”

“The financial means to buy food, it’s sorely lacking. I applaud you for doing this activity here,” said agency treasurer María Luisa Ortiz Pérez. “May God help you, give you more so that you can continue to share with others in need like us.”

Tlaxiaco

Up north, approximately 41 miles away from the first venue, another Care for Humanity was held, at Tlaxiaco, still in Oaxaca. It was held at the function hall of Tlaxico, Mexico Group Worship Service’s place of worship, at Barrio San Miguel, Heroica Ciudad de Tlaxiaco.

The same number and content of care packages were given. Just like in San Miguel El Grande, Brother Jamias introduced to the recipients the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ).

“I’m a single mother, I have two children. Our needs are many and diverse. The care package I received is helpful since its contents are basic necessities. I’m very thankful for this help you brought us,” said recipient Josefina Santiago Pérez.

“At home, there’s a lot of poverty, a lot of need,” said recipient Isayas Cruzenovio. “This care package is needed due to the rising cost of living we can’t afford. I’m very grateful to the Administration of the Church Of Christ. Thank you for the invitation.”

The district’s zeal

Volunteer Marlen Garcia shared, “Since yesterday, we’ve been getting things ready; preparing the packages and looking for people in need. We wholeheartedly invited people to this event.”

On behalf of the district, supervising minister Brother Jamias said, “We continue to help our fellowmen here in Mexico and across Central America in fulfillment of God’s commandment to help those in need. This is why the Church, through the leadership of our Executive Minister, Brother Eduardo V. Manalo, continues holding activities like this, Care for Humanity, being also for the glory of our Almighty God.”
