A literary and musical competition was hosted by the Ecclesiastical District of Iloilo North, in the Philippines, at Lemery Municipal Gym in Lemery, Iloilo on July 20, 2025.
According to Brother Ruel Dela Cruz, the district Christian Family Organizations overseer, it aimed to provide an avenue “for the brethren to showcase their talents and skills while promoting Iglesia Ni Cristo original songs, thereby making them all the more active and firm in the faith and be pleasing to the Lord God.”
District supervising minister Brother Sergio Vista graced the event with his presence. After his opening remarks, the competition commenced. Talented brethren of all ages—Buklod, KADIWA, Binhi, and Pagsamba ng Kabataan (PNK) —from various local congregations competed in four categories: singing (solo), singing (duet), choral group, PNK poetry, and folk dance.
The panel of judges included district music team adviser Brother Dexter Laguda, district choir director Roger Pacaonces, Ipil Congregation Buklod president Octaviano Puada, Ajuy Congregation finance officer Nikki Joy Camanso, Lemery Congregation organist Lucia Jabuya, Sara Congregation choir member Rodney Azuelo, and Estancia Congregation choir member Portia Begaso.
After garnering the top scores in all criteria of judging, the following were declared as champions of each category:
Singing (solo): Monica Primavera (Sara Congregation) – Ako’y Maghihintay Sa Iyong Pagliligtas
Singing (duet): Marvin and Maida Araño (Juaneza Group Worship Service) – Ikaw Ang Hiling
Choral group: Estancia Congregation – Salamat At Ako’y Ligtas
PNK Poetry: John Mark Bayot (Batad Congregation) – The Life Inside the Church Of Christ
Folk dance: Estancia – Si Filemon
Brother Vista, assistant district supervising minister Brother Ray Policarpio, district edification overseer Brother Benjamin Grande, district Church officers overseer Brother Leonardo Nuqui, and Brother Dela Cruz led the awarding of trophies to the winners.
“What inspires me to do my best in this competition is to give glory to our Lord God. There also is the support of my family, relatives and the brethren in our congregation,” said another champion, organist Marvin Araño.
“We thank so much our Executive Minister for supporting this kind of activity. Through this, we are able to showcase our talents and skills. Our heartfelt promise is that we will continue to participate in the activities launched by the Church Administration,” said Michelle Villacarlos on behalf of the winning choral group. — With reports from Jean Rago of INC News Section
