As part of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) expansion in Canada, the Ecclesiastical District of Manitoba established the Group Worship Service (GWS) of Kenora.

Named after a city on the Lake of the Woods in Ontario, Canada where it is situated, the new GWS held its inaugural worship at an events venue in the Perch Bay Resort on February 8, 2026. Succeeding worship services would be held at 50 Dalington Drive, Kenora, which the Church Administration approved as its place of worship.

District supervising minister Brother Roland W. Andrade officiated at the inaugural worship service. In his Bible-based preaching, he reminded the congregants to remain steadfast in their membership in the Church Of Christ by being devoted, among others, to the worship of God even in times of hardship because He promised help to His faithful servants.

Following the preaching of God’s words, district Church officers overseer Brother Regibert Calma administered the oath-taking of newly appointed Church officers.

“The Church Administration’s approval of the establishment of Kenora GWS, is the answer to the prayers of the brethren in this part of the world,” said the GWS’s resident ministerial worker Brother Gerome Cacho. “In the past, the brethren would travel for many hours notwithstanding different weather conditions to attend worship services.”

Kenora GWS is 187 kilometers away or approximately two hours from its mother local congregation, the Steinbach Congregation, via the Trans‑Canada Highway.

“It is the members’ inherent duty to worship God. As the Church continues to grow, it is important to help them uphold it, such as this worship service closer to their homes,” said Brother Andrade in an interview. — With assistance from district multimedia
