Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) members from the neighboring local congregations of Araneta and Galas, in the Ecclesiastical District of Quezon City, in the Philippines, extended care for their fellowmen through blood donation activities. These were conducted in partnership with the Iglesia Ni Cristo Social Services Office (SSO).

Volunteer donors from the Local Congregation of Araneta gathered at the residence of Armani Vergara at Villa España Subdivision, Brgy. Damayang Lagi, Quezon City on November 4, 2023. Meanwhile, those from the Local Congregation of Galas, assembled at the covered court of Aurora A. Quezon Elementary School, along Cordillera St., Brgy. Doña Aurora, Quezon City a week later, on November 11.

Mildred Rimando, a deaconess from Galas Congregation, and a first-time blood donor, expressed, “At first, I was hesitant for I was thinking about the pain, but upon donating, I felt relieved and joyful knowing that I have accomplished something for the sake of other people in need.”

A total of 51 blood bags were gathered from the said events. The Philippine Blood Center (PBC) collected the blood bags from Araneta Congregation, while the National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI) was the recipient of Galas Congregation.

“Brethren actively participate in this kind of activity not only for the benefit of their own health. Also by such means, they have been able to be of help to people seeking medical attention,” stated Brother Alexander Apiado, resident minister of Galas Congregation.

“Inasmuch as we express our concern for the spiritual welfare of our fellowmen, by inviting them to listen to God’s commands upheld by the Church, we also strive to extend aid to them whenever possible,” said Brother Alberne Jurada, resident minister of the Local Congregation of Araneta. “Through socio-civic activities like this, we are able to let our fellowmen feel our love and concern for them as well.”
