As their own little way of easing the effects of climate change, Society of Communicators and Networkers International (SCAN) officers and members from the Ecclesiastical District of Bataan, in the Philippines, held a tree planting activity on May 27, 2023.

The volunteer brethren planted 300 guyabano (soursop) germinated seedlings. Held at Bataan National High School situated along Roman Superhighway, Balanga City, Bataan, this socio-civic activity is the brethren’s way of promoting care for the environment as well as helping to beautify the public school’s surroundings.

Brother Bernard Beltran, district Christian Family Organizations (CFO) overseer, supervised the activity which was well coordinated with the school administration days prior to the actual tree planting activity.

“We, in SCAN, can be of help to our fellowmen not only during times of calamity and other emergencies but also through this tree planting activity,” said Romeo Patdu, SCAN member from the Local Congregation of Mariveles. “It’s a pleasure to take part in caring for the environment,” he added. — With reports from Muneerah Erestain of INC News Section
