Members of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) from the Local Congregation of Tambongon, Ecclesiastical District of Bogo City, Cebu in the Philippines sowed 1,200 mangrove seedlings during a tree-planting activity on May 6, 2023. These they planted at the seaside of their village of Tambongon, municipality of San Remigio, Cebu.

Brother Joshua Muñez, resident ministerial worker, spearheaded the activity. As mangroves are known to firmly hold soil, “we conducted this activity to improve the natural protection against various calamities and provide nesting grounds for fishes,” he said. “The brethren were joyful as they planted the seedlings and this also became a bonding moment for us.”

“We were excited when we heard of this activity,” Rex Lerasan, a deacon, expressed. “We joined to help in preserving our environment and unite with activities launched by the Church Administration.” — With reports from Princess Gigante of INC News Section
