In an exemplary display of environmental awareness, Society of Communicators and Networkers International (SCAN) members in the Ecclesiastical District of Ilocos Sur, in the Philippines, came together for a clean-up drive on June 28, 2023, at a coastal area in Sulvec, a barangay (village) in the municipality of Narvacan, Ilocos Sur.

The brethren-volunteers gathered at the venue early, before sunrise, bringing along their cleaning materials. Premie Salazar, district SCAN president, shared, “Upon receiving instructions, we immediately conveyed them to our fellow SCAN members. They likewise expressed eagerness to unite in this activity.”

To address the growing concerns of global warming and climate change, the Church Administration supports such socio-civic activities, which facilitates the brethren in taking concrete actions, such as proper waste disposal and maintaining surroundings clean.

“Not only was the beauty of the environment preserved. This activity has also once more united and strengthened the faith of the brethren involved, for which we are thankful to the Church Administration who has always been very supportive,” said Brother Esteban Cervantes Jr., district Christian Family Organizations overseer. — With reports from Cherry Abad of INC News Section
