From being organized as an extension, the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) members in Invercargill South, in the Ecclesiastical District of New Zealand, gained local congregation status.

They held their inaugural worship service on October 14, 2023 at Bill Richardson Transport World along Tay Street, Hawthorndale, Invercargill, a spacious venue to accommodate the many brethren from the Local Congregation of Invercargill, Cromwell Group Worship Service (GWS), and ministers assigned at other local congregations in Metro Auckland, who joined them for the occasion. The congregation’s worship services have since been held at 15 Coronation Street, Strathern, Invercargill and will continue to be held there.

Brother Dennis Dahunan, district supervising minister, officiated at the sacred gathering. He preached a biblical lesson detailing how true servants always see the positive side when they are afflicted with sickness, that is, they remain unhindered from worshiping and serving God.

Afterwards, Brother Edgar Hernanadez, resident minister and the district Christian Family Organizations (CFO) overseer, led the oath-taking of new officers.

“I firmly believe that, as I fulfill my Chuch duty, our Lord God will strengthen my faith for me to overcome trials in this life and receive salvation on Judgment Day,” said Walter Carmesis, newly-sworn in head deacon.

“We believe that the expansion of the Iglesia Ni Cristo in different parts of the world is a fulfillment of God’s promises, like the establishment of this local congregation,” said Brother Nolly Esperanza, assistant district supervising minister. “We offer all the glory and honor to our Almighty God.” — With reports from Roxanne Rosquita of INC News Section
