Negros Oriental emerges champion in inter-district Himig ng Kaligtasan

The Ecclesiastical District of Negros Oriental’s choir won the inter-district Himig ng Kaligtasan (Songs of Salvation), which was held at the activity center of SMX Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, Philippines on September 27, 2023.

With their rendition of the contest piece, Ang Pagliligtas ng Ama, Malapit nang Kamtin (God’s promised salvation is at hand), the winning district bested nine choirs from Panay and Negros islands.

“This activity is in celebration of the KADIWA and Binhi’s anniversaries,” Brother Joel Arias, district Christian Family Organizations (CFO) overseer in Negros Oriental, expressed. “We’re so grateful for the support of the Church Administration, and of our district supervising minister, Brother Renato Callejo, to our district’s choir.”

The choir from the host district, the Ecclesiastical District of Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, was declared first runner-up; that of the Ecclesiastical District of Antique as second runner-up.

The seven other choirs who made it to the final round were from the Ecclesiastical Districts of Aklan; Bacolod City, Negros Occidental; Capiz; Iloilo North; Iloilo South; Negros del Norte; and Valladolid, Negros Occidental. — With reports from Jonathan Rempillo of INC News Section
