As part of their organization’s initiative to recruit more members while providing a refresher course to already instated ones, officers and members of the Society of Communicators and Networkers International (SCAN) in the Ecclesiastical District of Taiwan underwent Emergency First Responder (EFR) training and certification at the function hall of the Local Congregation of Tunghai, Longjing on June 4, 2023.

During the said event, they took a course about Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED), which are both essential in performing first aid during incidents, particularly to a person who might be having a heart attack.

Juanjuan Qian, of the National Resuscitation Council of Taiwan, led the training. With the assistance from SCAN officers of the district, proper CPR and use of AED were demonstrated, which the trainees later tried themselves.

Afterwards, the participants took a practical and online examination for the EFR certification.

Expressing the collective sentiment of the SCAN members, Danica Tiglao, SCAN member from Tunghai, Longjing Local Congregation, said, “We wholeheartedly thank the Church Administration because they approved this activity in our district, with this we acquired knowledge that we will use to help people during emergencies.” — With reports from Karen Analee Abalos of INC News Section
