Sports enthusiasts among the young members from the Ecclesiastical District of Batac City, Ilocos Norte tested their mettle in their respective games when they met during the INC Unity GamesKADIWA and Binhi Edition.

Christian Family Organizations (CFO) officers under the guidance of Brother Erdy Aguilar, district supervising minister, spearheaded the activity which was held at the Mega Complex in Currimao, Ilocos Norte, Philippines on May 21, 2023.

“The players in the KADIWA and Binhi waited eagerly for the Unity Games and now they are participating wholeheartedly in this activity launched by the Church Administration,” Brother Henry Robles, district CFO overseer, said. “Although these are competitions, but the participants showed the love of brotherhood because they believe they already won through their unity.”

For the sporting event, the district’s eight clusters of neighboring local congregations were divided into two areas. Area 1 consisted of the clusters of Batac, Badoc, Currimao, Paoay, and Pinili while Area 2 those of Marcos, Banna, and Nueva Era.

Players from the two areas had friendly competitions in group games of basketball and volleyball, and individual players engaged in games of badminton, track and field, darts, and board games.

Tristan Daryl Agra, a KADIWA basketball player, said “Playing sports is fun and brings excitement to the family.” But more than that, “It’s good for us young members to be in sports because this instills discipline to us and help us work as a team,” he emphasized.

“Being involved in sports is important because this strengthens one’s physical body and keeps him away from doing vices,” Marwin Mejia, a KADIWA badminton player, explained. “I’m happy to be one with the brethren in this activity. Strengthening the brotherhood also makes me steadfast in the faith to continue serving God and uniting with the Church Administration.” — With reports from Dannah Grace Sayson of INC News Section
