Players and spectators from ecclesiastical districts in Eastern Visayas, Philippines met for the regional INC Unity GamesKADIWA and Binhi edition held at Leyte Sports Development Center in Tacloban City in the Philippines on July 1, 2023.

Delegates from the Ecclesiastical Districts of Northern Samar, Western Samar, Eastern Samar, Leyte West, and Leyte East flocked at the venue with the latter district serving as the host.

“Unity Games bring strength to the brethren not only in the physical but also in the spiritual aspect,” Brother Albert Tolentino, assistant supervising minister of Leyte East District, explained. “Although they came from different districts, they showed their unity, love, and concern for one another as brothers and sisters in the faith.”

Teams fielded by each district competed in basketball, volleyball, and soccer matches. Individual representatives showed their skill in other sporting events, such as badminton, basketball free throw for women, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, track and field, and swimming.

Leyte East Ecclesiastical District was declared the overall champion as the players representing it reached top spot for majority of the games.

“Church activities, such as this, are important to me because these add to my zeal in serving God and it’s a bonding moment with my fellow KADIWA and Binhi members,” said Jennelyn Dela Cruz, table tennis player from the Local Congregation of Can-abay. — With reports from Quennie Urena of INC News Section
