The Local Congregation of Red Deer, in the Ecclesiastical District of Calgary, Canada conducted a baptism of new converts on December 30, 2023.

The momentous occasion was held at the Hampton Inn & Suites along Leva Avenue in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada. “We are grateful to God that before the year 2023 ends, a baptism was held in this very city. A historic event indeed,” explained Brother Jimz Caster Zamora, resident minister.

Brother Eleazar Yarcia, assistant district supervising minister, officiated at the baptismal service. Through the words of God written in the Bible, he reminded the candidates for baptism about the importance of them embracing their divine election by upholding a righteous way of life as members of the true Church.

Erlinda Lim, 72 years old, one of the newly baptized brethren, said that “God’s true words are what encouraged me to join the true Church, especially the truth about there’s only one God—the Father. Receiving baptism inside the Church Of Christ was the best feeling.” She added, “I will strive to bring my children and family members to the Church Of Christ so they, too, can receive the hope for salvation.”

Another convert, Magdalena Arevalo, 62 years old from the Lacombe Group Worship Service (GWS) in Red Deer area, shared: “The lesson about the only Church that the Lord Jesus Christ will save on the Day of Judgment convinced me. When I heard that biblical truth, I told myself, ‘I will strive, like my children, to be saved.”

The last baptism for 2023 in the Calgary District and the first in Red Deer City was made possible through the efforts of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) members in the Red Deer Congregation in the intensified works of propagation. “It’s important for us to share our faith because the Day of Judgment is very near,” said Brother Nathaniel Subala, a ministerial worker assigned in Ponoka GWS.

Brother Zamora, in an interview, said, “With God’s mercy and help, the Church Of Christ is gradually being recognized here in Red Deer City. We promise to continue spreading the words of God so that more people in this city will be called inside the Church.” — With reports from Patrick de Guzman of INC News Section
