“We prepared everything the night before so this activity would be successful,” said Leopoldo Rey, Society of Communicators and Networkers, International (SCAN) president of the Ecclesiastical District of Quezon South.

On January 6, 2022, together with his fellow Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) members, Leopoldo went to the multipurpose gymnasium of Barangay Manggarong, Catanauan, Quezon for the blood donation activity of the district. Quezon Medical Center’s (QMC) health workers were on-site to facilitate the activity.

According to Dr. Raymundo Supeña, QMC pathologist, extracted “red blood cells benefit those who are anemic or those who have low hemoglobin levels. White blood cells fight infection and platelets stop bleeding.” A blood donor is “able to help extend or save lives of at least three persons,” he added.

Edgardo Nabora, Buklod president of the Local Congregation of Bacong, shared, “It’s my first time, but I feel all right after donating. More so, it feels good to be taking part with this activity.”

Nonmembers were also encouraged to donate. Grateful, Glaydle Icaro said, “I may not be an INC member but I’ve been given the chance to donate blood, a chance for me to be of help to others.” — With reports from INC News Section
