The Pardo cluster of the Ecclesiastical District of Cebu City, Cebu was adjudged champion in the district final of the Himig ng Kaligtasan (Songs of Salvation) KADIWA and Binhi Edition that was held on August 27, 2023.

Comprised of youth members mostly from the Pardo Local Congregation, the Pardo cluster earned the judges’ nod with their heartwarming rendition of “Ang Ama ang Magbibigay ng Kalakasan” (God Will Provide Strength).

The district officers of the Christian Family Organizations (CFO) organized the musical event, with the guidance of Brother Jomar Dueñas, district supervising minister.

Five clusters of adjacent congregations, namely, Pardo, Cebu City, Motorpool, Mandaue, and Liloan clusters competed in the singing contest, which was staged at the Marcelo Fernan Press Center in Lahug, Cebu City.

The Mandaue cluster choral group landed second place with the song “Salamat Po, Ama” (Thank You, Father). The third placer was the choir from Liloan, who sang “Malapit na! Malapit na!” (It is Near, It is Near). The winning choral groups received trophies.

“We are very glad that we made it to the top,” Sharmaine Baldo, a member of the Pardo cluster enthused. “We did not really expect it to happen, but we are thankful to the Lord God for this success, and we give all the glory to Him because without His help we would not be able to make it.”

Jane Moraca, another performer, added, “Our hearts are filled with joy and gladness in our participation in this activity. We did our best and we hope that we have given inspiration and joy to the brethren and even more glory to the Lord God.”

“This kind of activity truly inspires the youth members of the Church to become more active in their duties and in their services to our Lord God,” said Brother Vyron Facinag, district overseer of the CFO. “We are truly grateful to our beloved Executive Minister, Brother Eduardo Manalo, for launching activities such as this.” — With reports from Blessie Rempillo of INC News Section
