As part of its commemoration of the 50th anniversary of KADIWA and Binhi, the Ecclesiastical District of Hawaii-Pacific held a special gathering on October 20, 2023, during which the members of the two organizations were reminded of the importance of listening to and obeying the commandments of God, one of which is choosing the right friends.

Brother Gem Baitan, district supervising minister, officiated at the sacred gathering held at the house of worship of the Local Congregation of Waipahu.

“For the KADIWA and Binhi members, our hope is that they keep their focus on the right things in life, such as surrounding themselves with the right people, as it has relevance not only for their future but also for their relationship with our Almighty God,” Brother Israel Pacheco, district Christian Family Organizations (CFO) overseer, explained.

“The part of the lesson that stood out to me is when it was mentioned that we should avoid people or things that will hinder us from obeying God’s commandments taught in the Church,” said Nathan Amoguis, Binhi district president from the Local Congregation of Honolulu. “After hearing such biblical truth, I reflected right away, thinking about the friends I have right now.”

“It’s really important to be constantly reminded of God’s teachings, especially for me as a youth exposed to the wickedness in this world, where some people could be bad influences,” Sophie Achacoso, choir member from the Local Congregation of Maili, said.

“I will always keep in mind to safeguard my membership in the Church, one of which is by bonding with my fellow brethren as they are truly of help to me as I stay active in the faith,” Mayann Tadeo, choir member from the Local Congregation of Waikiki, remarked. — With reports from Ryan Barnachea of INC News Section
