The KADIWA and Binhi Cooking Challenge in the Ecclesiastical District of Hong Kong on August 27, 2023 brought out the culinary skills of the young members who participated in the event. It was held at the Paragon Studio, Mai Hong Industrial Building, Wai Yip Street in Kwun Tong.

KADIWA and Binhi officers led this cooking tilt as part of commemorating both their organizations’ 50th anniversary this year.

Brother Jonathan Jove, district Christian Family Organizations (CFO) overseer, supervised the activity which not only “aims to give talented members of the organizations an opportunity to demonstrate their skills in cooking” but also “to promote team-building, camaraderie and most of all, the love of brotherhood as they cooperated in cooking their chosen cuisine,” he explained.

Competing for the best dish ranging from Italian to Filipino, and even Chinese cuisines were the Yellow Team (composed of members from the local congregations of Kowloon, Sham Shui Po, and Shatin), Red Team (Sai Kung, New Territories, and Hong Kong East), Orange Team (Yuen Long and Lantau Island), and Green Team (North Point).

The Orange Team was adjudged the champion. Red Team and Yellow Team placed first and second runners-up, respectively.

“Taking the time and effort in preparing these delectable dishes, we applaud the participants for their hard work,” Mark Jason Amado, KADIWA district officer and one of the organizers, said. — With reports from Evangeline Obra of INC News Section
