The Ecclesiastical District of Davao de Oro, Philippines greeted 2022 with a district-wide oath-taking of additional Church officers during a special gathering on January 2, 2022.

Brother Bernardo Nicanor Bernardo Jr., district supervising minister, officiated at the gathering held in the house of worship of the Local Congregation of Nabunturan, which served as the host site. Church officers in various local congregations gathered at their respective houses of worship connected through videoconferencing.

In his homily, Brother Bernardo reminded the Church officers about the importance of the God-given duties in the holy works of the Church, especially in caring for the brethren. He then exhorted the old and new officers alike to be devoted to fulfilling their sacred tasks for the glory of God and for their own spiritual advancement.

After the homily, Brother Felix Villabrille Jr., assistant district supervising minister, administered the oath-taking of the new officers.

“I am thankful for not only being a member of the Church but also an officer in the Church Of Christ,” said Jocelyn Liquit, a finance officer in the New Visayas Extension of the Local Congregation of Montevista. “With my duty, I feel that I am closer to our Lord God and this all the more strengthens my faith.”

“It is a great honor to receive a Church duty. This is a great blessing for my family. I will give importance to this because this is one of the ways to serve our Lord God,” said Mary Joy Amar, a newly-sworn in deaconess from the Local Congregation of Nabunturan. — With reports from INC News Section
