Despite frigid temperatures and extreme wind chill, members of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) in the Local Congregation of Callingwood in Edmonton, Canada attended the inaugural worship service of their congregation on January 14, 2024. The sacred gathering took place in the Parkview Community League Hall in Edmonton, Alberta.

On the said momentous occasion, Brother Rolando Gaviola, Edmonton District supervising minister, delivered a Bible-based lesson about God’s promises to His servants who are obedient to all His commands.

“Traveling during winter time is truly a great challenge. That’s why we are very blessed to now have a closer place of worship to us,” Albert Levi Pagaduan, one of the head deacons of the said newly established local congregation, said.

Worshiping God is our duty to Him. So, it’s very important to always dedicate ourselves in praising ang glorifying Him despite the hindrances. During our worship services, we feel the love and guidance of God. It is also the time when He gives us the blessings we need,” said Pagaduan.

Marlowe Cambel, a deacon, expressed, “This [inaugural worship service] is truly a very special event to all of us. We thank the Church Administration for approving the establishment of this new local congregation. Praise be to God for He allowed a new local congregation to be established here in Callingwood.”

Prior to the establishment of the Local Congregation of Callingwood, brethren had to attend gatherings in the Meadowlark Congregation, which is a three-hour drive from them.— With reports from Brian Justin Tacneng of INC News Section
