Bernardo Rios and wife Bambi, from the Local Congregation of Fairfield, won the “Mr. and Mrs. Chef” competition of the Ecclesiastical District of Northeast California, which was held on August 13, 2022.  The couple prepared Gravlax (graved salmon) for appetizer, seared chicken for main dish, and Pear Cheesecake Mousse for dessert.

Held at Danner Hall in San Joaquin Delta College, Stockton, California, the cooking tilt called for the contestants to work together in preparing a three-course meal, consisting of an appetizer, main dish, and dessert.

“This gave inspiration to the husbands and wives. Cooking together is one way to make couples’ bond stronger,” said Brother Pedro Dela Cruz, district supervising minister. “The activity gave the couples in our district an opportunity to show their prowess in cooking. It also was a chance for the brethren to gather once again.”

“Working together in this activity helps to know or gauge what your partner is thinking. It fosters good synergy between us,” Caithness Lagat, participant from the Local Congregation of Sacramento, said. — With reports from INC News Section
