The Christian households in the Ecclesiastical District of Los Angeles County in California gathered for a Family Night on November 26, 2023, which drew together families from the local congregations in the district.

Upon arrival at the Oxnard Performing Arts Center along 800 Hobson Way in Oxnard, California, the brethren were ushered inside the 1,604-seat theater with state-of-the-art stage by the almost 200 ushers of KADIWA and Binhi members donned in their black and white uniforms.

Led by the parents, the families took the opportunity to invite their friends and relatives, who are not members of the Church, to also witness the gathering and introduce them to the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ).

Jinhee Kim, a secretariat officer from the Woodland Hills Congregation, who invited her friends, shared, “I like to keep in touch with people on a regular basis and then ask when I get an opportunity to.”

Each of the 17 local congregations of the district prepared various food stations featuring assortments of appetizers, main course dishes, and desserts for everyone to enjoy.

Musical performances on stage, ranging from a band to duets and group singers, entertained with songs selected from the Iglesia Ni Cristo Original Music as well as interactive parlor games with prizes.

A video presentation was shown on the big screen featuring the story of faith of a woman as she searches for the truth and eventually found the true Church.

The highlight of the activity was the uplifting message, based on the Bible, of the district supervising minister, Brother Artemio T. Pilon, Jr., which underscored the importance of family within the Church Of Christ.

“The activity brought jubilation to all the brethren present and also to the guests. The love for God was evident during the occasion and the bond of brotherhood was apparent. It was a momentous event seeing all attendees with happy faces and so much joy in their hearts,” said Brother Pilon in an interview. According to him, it was the second of a series of five events on the countdown and road to the fifth anniversary of the district on February 8, 2024.

He further explained, “The Family Night and evangelical mission that were held in the district is in line with the ardent desire of the Church Administration that many people will come to know the truth for them to have a chance to be saved on Judgment Day. The main focus of invites were families. However, it also aims to encourage all brethren to even more be active in their services to God, one of which is the sharing of our faith.” — With reports from Eva Basallaje and District Multimedia
