On August 28, 2022, the brethren from the Local Congregation of Townsville, Ecclesiastical District of Australia East conducted the first-ever evangelical mission in Ayr, a town approximately 90 kilometers south of Townsville, Queensland.

The said activity for the proclamation of God’s words was held in the residence of Edward Doiraena, a resident of Ayr. He cordially offered his residence, a share house of sugarcane plantation workers, along Cole Rd., Airdmillan, for the Bible study after learning about the work of the Church in the Solomon Islands (see link).

On the day of the evangelical mission, the brethren from Townsville, led by Brother Mark Tongol, a minister of the gospel, travelled to Ayr and, upon arriving, went around the community to invite the residents to the study of God’s words.

Many guests turned out for the evangelical mission, most of whom were migrants from the Solomon Islands.

During the propagation activity, Brother Tongol introduced the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ), preaching from the Bible that it is the true Church in these last days which will receive the promised salvation when Judgment Day comes.

In an interview, Doiraena said that “in the Solomon Islands, I’ve never heard of the Church Of Christ. So, I want to increase my knowledge about it and continue studying God’s words. [I believe that] it’s the true words of God that is being taught to us.” — With reports from INC News Section
