“This year we added golf as part of our INC Unity Games,” said Sigrid Millare, organizer.

Thus, the newly added tournament, which gained the attention of golf enthusiasts all over the Ecclesiastical District of Southern Ontario, was held at Acton Golf Club in Acton, Ontario, Canada on May 13, 2023.

Brother Raul Adalla, district supervising minister, led the sporting event together with Brothers Jay Acuna and Ramil Macaspac II, assistant district supervising minister and district Christian Family Organizations (CFO) overseer, respectively.

“Competitors so anticipated this,” Sigrid added. Some of the brethren came all the way from Windsor, Ontario, which is about a four-hour travel to the venue, just to participate. “The end result is most satisfying, especially when we see all the players exhibiting sportsmanship, while our fellow brethren were not remiss in cheering for their respective congregations,” she further said.

Despite the stiff competition, brotherly love and camaraderie reigned among the players. Of the 16 golfers, Jimmy Manguerra emerged as champion and will represent the district in the National Unity Games in Calgary, wherein representatives from other ecclesiastical districts in Canada will compete.

Elimination rounds of other sporting events, which were also part of district’s INC Unity Games, were held a week later, on May 20; the finals on May 22. — With reports from INC News Section
