Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) members from the Ecclesiastical District of Ilocos Sur have always shown their readiness to respond to the Church Administration’s call to extend aid to those in need.

Such concern for their fellowmen was again demonstrated through their active participation in the district’s most recent blood donation drive, which took place at the Vigan Cultural and Trade Center, Vigan City, Ilocos Sur, Philippines on September 8, 2023.

Held under the overall supervision of Brother Manuel Santos, the district supervising minister, supervised the humanitarian activity which was conducted in collaboration with the Philippine Red Cross (PRC)-Ilocos Sur Chapter.

“I thank the [Iglesia Ni Cristo] for the continued support that will be given to the PRC,” the PRC chapter’s administrator, Ms. Veronica Tactay, said. “Especially during times of calamities like typhoon Egay (international name: Doksuri), Goring (international name: Saola), and Hanna (international name: Haikui), we had a shortage of blood in our blood bank. So this blood donation will fill the blood shortage due to the recent calamities.”

Volunteers first underwent health examinations to ascertain their qualifications to be blood donors.

One of the volunteer donors, Kim Ullero, a Children’s Worship Service (CWS) teacher and choir member from Cabugao Congregation, enthused, “I thank the Lord God for the activity’s success. In this way, we can help our fellowmen, especially those who suffer from illnesses that require blood transfusions.”

“We are very grateful to the Church Administration for supporting this activity [through which] we’ve been able to fulfill the commandment of God to help our fellowmen,” said Brother Esteban Cervantes Jr., the district Christian Family Organizations (CFO) overseer. — With reports from Lemuel Tino of INC News Section
