In addition to the five local congregations in the Ecclesiastical District of Caloocan North, Philippines that have Sign Language interpretation in their worship services—Bagong Silang 5, Camarin, Deparo, F. Manalo-Caloocan, and Punturin—the Local Congregation of Maligaya held its first of such kind on November 2, 2023.

The brethren in Maligaya consider this occasion a timely progress, especially as the Christian Society for the Deaf of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) reached its tenth anniversary this year.

“When I first began learning Sign Language, what really motivated me to do so is the truth that anyone could be saved,” said Brother Paroh Ramses Samson, ministerial worker who performed as the Sign Language interpreter during the said worship service in Maligaya. “Now I’m able to share the gospel to more Deaf people while I also edify the brethren who are either deaf or mute.”

“I’m so glad that the Church Administration approved that a worship service here in our local congregation now has Sign Language interpretation,” expressed Christian Viloria through Sign Language, “They let us feel not only that sense of belonging but their sincerity to look after our spiritual welfare.” — With reports from Joed Berganio of INC News Section
