The Local Congregation of San Juan, Ecclesiastical District of Metro Manila East in the Philippines, conducted a ‘Mr. and Mrs. Chef’ activity on September 30, 2023, which showcased not only cooking skills and bond among the married members but also their camaraderie with fellow brethren who witnessed and supported them.

With the supervision of Brother Pepito Valdez, resident minister, the congregation’s Buklod officers organized the said activity at the Function Hall of Brgy. J Basa, San Juan City, Philippines.

During the friendly competition, four couples simultaneously prepared their respective dishes, with chicken as base ingredient, in a given time. Afterwards, they proudly presented these to the judges and brethren for evaluation.

The couple Clett Conrad and Baby Jane Derquito was announced the winner. Two couples, Geofrey and Edna Magno, Joenel and Norma Carbo, tied for the second place; couple Andy and Mercedita Aquino in the third place. They were then given certificates of recognition and trophies.

“We are grateful to the Church Administration for launching this activity that has truly helped us show our cooking skills and further strengthened our brotherhood in the Church,” said Joenel Carbo, one of the participants.
