Under the supervision of the Local Congregation of Iwakuni, Ecclesiastical District of Nagoya, Japan, a group worship service (GWS) of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) was recently established in Hofu City in Yamaguchi Prefecture, situated at the westernmost tip of mainland Japan.

On June 13, 2023, the inaugural worship service was held to formally mark the establishment of the Hofu GWS. Led by the district supervising minister, Brother Manny Benedicto, the sacred occasion was attended by the brethren gathered at the Sewaki residence along Uematsu in Hofu Shi, Yamaguchi Ken, Japan. It is where regular worship services and other religious gatherings are being conducted as well.

Other brethren gathered at the Iwakuni Congregation’s place of worship also witnessed the sacred event through videoconferencing.

During the study of God’s words, Brother Benedicto reminded the brethren of the great importance of actively upholding the worship services, especially now that there is a place of worship within their vicinity, for the sake of their spiritual welfare. For almost three years, they used to attend such holy gatherings at the Iwakuni Congregation, a two-hour drive away from Hofu City.

“This development of the Church in this part of Japan is a great blessing for us. Through this, we can even more intensify the work of propagation by inviting more people to attend the worship services and evangelical missions,” said Juliet Sewaki, deaconess, who donated a portion of her house to be a place of worship.

Brother Jettee Puzon, resident minister, attested, “The brethren are even more inspired in devoting themselves to serve the Lord God and help the Administration in all the works of the Church. Thanks be to God, through the instrumentality of Brother Eduardo V. Manalo, the Executive Minister, for granting us this success.” — With reports from Stephanie delos Reyes of INC News Section
