As part of the commemoration of their local congregation’s 33rd anniversary, brethren from the Local Congregation of Port Moresby, in Papua New Guinea, held evangelical missions and Pasugo distribution activities.

Starting on September 3, 2023, Church officers and members went to Malolo and Glory Estates (villages that are about an hour drive from their house of worship) to hand out Pasugo: God’s Message magazines and religious pamphlets to their fellowmen. This effort continued the following day, during which the brethren gave the religious reading materials to their acquaintances in their respective workplace or school.

Brother Mark Jayson Montes, resident minister, led the brethren in evangelical missions in Bahara and Boroko, the congregation’s neighboring villages, on September 4 and 5, respectively.

On September 8, the brethren gathered guests for the evangelical mission at their house of worship. Brother Montes preached a Bible-based lesson about the importance of membership in the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) for the attainment of salvation.

“I noticed that in the lesson that there were parables mentioned, which at first, I didn’t understand,” Cristina Melesa, a guest, said. “Towards the end of the lesson, the minister taught the meaning of those parables, based also on what is written in the Bible. I like that way of preaching.”

Mary Amos, another guest, compared her experience during the evangelical mission with her current religion. She said, “In our religion, the pastor just reads the liturgy book but here [in the Church Of Christ], the minister reads directly from the Bible. I’m happy to attend this Bible study and I’m looking forward for future studies.”

Brethren in Port Moresby are commemorating the 33rd anniversary of their local congregation since its establishment on September 18, 1990, 12 years after being a group committee prayer. Their local congregation is under the supervision of the Ecclesiastical District of Australia West. — With reports from Quiza Quiñola of INC News Section
