Chris Antonette Pugay and Princess Cubelo, from the South Korea Ecclesiastical District, who starred in Sandalan, the district’s entry to this year’s INCinema short filmmaking contest bagged the Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress awards, respectively.

They were declared thus and received their awards during the Excellence in Visual Media (EVM) Awards 2022, which was held at The Manila Hotel, Ermita, Manila, Philippines on October 31, 2022.

Sandalan revolves around the lives of Miguel (Clark Celendron) and Celine (Chris Pugay), expats in South Korea, whose marriage was severely tested when Miguel was struck by selective amnesia after an accident. The film portrayed how faith, love, and hope helped them to overcome the trial in their lives, with the help of their friends and colleagues, Melai (Princess Cubelo) included.

“It’s a great honor for me to be part of this big event, the EVM Awards. This gave me great joy, unique experience, and inspiration to all the more serve God. My inspiration in fulfilling my role in the film are our Lord God’s words taught to us by the Executive Minister, one of which is that a good spouse comes from God,” Antonette said.

“When my name was called, I was overjoyed because this award will also bring joy and activeness to the brethren in our district,” Princess expressed.

“We are humbled by the recognition that our district’s entry has garnered in this year’s EVM Awards. The cast and crew of Sandalan were inspired by this experience knowing that through their hard work and dedication, they created a work of art that not only entertained and captivated its audience but was also chosen for promoting Christian values and doctrines we uphold inside the Church Of Christ,” Brother Roderick Yome, district supervising minister, said. — With reports from INC News Section
