To augment the knowledge and awareness of brethren from the eastern part of Leyte, Philippines of common health issues, the Ecclesiastical District of Leyte East tapped its Christian Medical Dental and Paramedical Society (CMDPS) in holding a health seminar from April 24 to 25, 2022.

All in all, six houses of worship were designated as sites for the activity, namely, that of the local congregations of Tacloban City, Abuyog, Alang-Alang, Maasin, Sogod, and Saint Bernard.

From the host site—the house of worship of the Local Congregation of Tacloban City—Erwin Torres, a physician, shared important information about proper diet, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases on the first day. On the second day of the seminar, he shared tips on how to manage, if not prevent, the onset of such illnesses. He emphasized the importance of choosing correctly what supplements to take, besides having regular exercise.

Josefina Mataro from the Local Congregation of Tacloban City said, “I find this seminar very informative as I’ve learned that there are habits and health practices that we should stop for these might make us sick sooner or later, especially that I’ve been having maintenance medication, which is why staying healthy is crucial for me.” — With reports from INC News Section
