Inspired by God’s second most important commandment, which is to “love your neighbor as you love yourself” written in Mark 12:31 (Good News Bible), Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) members from the Local Congregation of Bagong Silang 9, Ecclesiastical District of Caloocan North, in the Philippines, proved their genuine care to fellowmen by participating in a blood donation activity on August 12, 2023.

“With the guidance of the Church Administration through its Social Services Office, this event was indeed a success. There were 99 bags of blood collected in total,” said Brother Warren Flores, resident minister, a donor himself.

Representatives from SSO, Christian Medical Dental and Paramedical Society (CMDPS) officers, and practitioners from the Dr. Jose Natalio Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center in Caloocan, worked together in facilitating the event.

“Me and my wife donate blood whenever needed, such as when there’s an activity like this. It is our joy to do so. Besides from the fact that it benefits our health, we do so to obey the doctrine taught to us, that is, to extend help to those in need,” said Rogelio Dumencel, a deacon.

Before donating blood, donors went through registration, screening, and blood testing. A round of snacks were also given to those who donated.

Brother Flores affirmed, “The brethren in our local congregation will remain active in all the Church’s works. The triumph of this event we all owe to the Almighty God for guiding and giving fruition to our preparations.” — With reports from Justine Beron of INC News Section
