Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) young members, along with Children’s Worship Service (CWS) members, in the Ecclesiastical District of Caloocan North in Metro Manila, Philippines, showcased their talents in singing in a joint event of Himig ng Kaligtasan (Songs of Salvation)-KADIWA and Binhi Edition, and Songs of Faith, Love, and Hope CWS Edition. The friendly competitions reached district finals on June 10, 2023 at the Caloocan Sports Complex.

In the Himig ng Kaligtasan, seven choral groups comprising KADIWA and Binhi members rendered their version of Iglesia Ni Cristo original songs. Choir directors in the district served as the judges. The winners were adjudged based on choreography, interpretation, tone, and timbre, among others.

The choirs from the local congregations of Palmera and Deparo were declared first and second runners-up, respectively. “We’re so thankful to the Lord God for having rewarded our efforts. This success after months of practice will always inspire me as a member of the Church,” said Ayaka Matsumuto, a KADIWA officer, on behalf of fellow choir members from Deparo.

The choir from the Local Congregation of Saranay, which was hailed the champion, will then compete at the regional level of the said activity.

Meanwhile, 12 young members were the finalists of the SOFLAH segment. Among them, it was Evangeline Licayan from the Local Congregation of Tierra Nova who sung the winning piece. Owing her victory to the Almighty, she said that she would “continue using her talents to perform her duties in the CWS.” Licayan will represent their district in the event’s regional finals.

Drax Austria from the Local Congregation of Camarin bagged first runner-up while Rheo Drianne Rosalin of the Local Congregation of St. Dominic landed as the second-runner up.

Brother Ariel B. Barzaga, district supervising minister, led these events. During his closing remarks, he reminded the brethren that it is very important that, starting at their young age, they are already able to actively participate in various endeavors in the Church. Doing so will not be in vain, he added, as such is glorifying to God. — With reports from Rizza Guiang of the INC News Section
