With the Covid-19 no longer a “public health emergency of international concern” says the World Health Organization (who.int), the Pre-Kindergarten Program (PKP) of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) will resume face-to-face classes this year in the various ecclesiastical districts of the Church in the Philippines.

Accredited through the New Era University (NEU), the said program offers free education for children ages four to six, be they Church Of Christ members or not. Classes will start by July, which was why volunteer teachers and teacher aides from the Ecclesiastical District of Bulacan West gathered for a conference at the house of worship of the Local Congregation of Tabe on June 17, 2023.

Princess Aina Hernandez, Children’s Worship Service (CWS) district committee chairperson, led the activity. Fellow CWS district officers assisted her.

“I responded to the call of the Church Administration for this PKP conference,” said Princess, who is also a teacher. “For six years now, it has been my vow to continue on as a volunteer teacher in this program to guide the children as they grow up, especially the young members in the Church.”

The speakers discussed about the method of preparation for the program and enrollment in every congregation. They also taught the attendees how to use the new modules prepared by the NEU.

Through a video presentation, the attendees watched how to conduct the classroom setting to guide and facilitate the children in the learning process.

“PKP will serve as one of the foundations for the children that will help them understand various subjects and topics,” Princess added. “With this, they will gain knowledge prior to their formal schooling.” — With reports from Jewelyn Sulit of INC News Section
