Five local congregations in the Ecclesiastical District of Hawaii Pacific, held inter-local INC Unity Games on June 11, 2023. These were Hilo, Honokaa, Kailua-Kona, Keaau, and Naalehu, all located on the Hawaii Island, also called Big Island.

Christian Family Organizations (CFO) officers from the said local congregations collaborated in organizing basketball and volleyball matches played in the said sports meet held at Billy Kenoi District Park along Kauhale Street in Pahoa.

“We’re very happy to be [holding] Unity Games once again, it’s very edifying for the brethren,” said Marlon Simmons from the Local Congregation of Keaau. “A lot of the brethren came out to support this event and they were very happy,” he added.

Brother Gem Baitan, district supervising minister, and Brother Linuel de Leon, assistant district supervising minister, graced the sporting event with their presence. Brother Brandon Pacheco, district CFO overseer, administered the oath of sportsmanship of the players at the outset of the event.

“We’re here because we want to remain united with the Church Administration. And what the Church members are often reminded, which is to always put ourselves in the Lord’s works and do so enthusiastically, that’s exactly what we’re doing during activities like this,” explained Brother Andre Gobrera, resident ministerial worker in the Honokaa Congregation. — With reports from Chantel Lopez of INC News Section
