Three days before the 109th anniversary of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ), the Local Congregation of Cubao, Ecclesiastical District of Quezon City in the Philippines commemorated its 92nd anniversary of establishment. For this, the brethren in Cubao held a socializing event, which also served as a Welcome, My Brethren activity for the newly baptized members and those in the process of joining the Church, on July 30, 2023.

“This Welcome, My Brethren activity was held not only to commemorate the local congregation’s anniversary, but also to strengthen the bond between the brethren and those who are joining the Church,” said Brother Mico Magadia, resident minister of Cubao.

The activity began with the opening remarks from Brother Reymond Pascual, a minister of the gospel. Afterwards, the event proceeded to the performances of the brethren showcasing their musical talents and the interactive games prepared by the Christian Family Organizations (CFO) officers of Cubao.

Sharing her experience, Liza Lura, one of those in the process of joining the Church, said, “It was so fun! You can feel the love among the Church members. They treat everyone equally and do not discriminate. They welcome those who are even nonmembers of the Church and those who are candidates for baptism like myself.”

Part of the program was the awarding of recognition for the officers in various departments who excelled in their participation in the work of propagation, the department with the best booth presented, winners of the INC Unity Games local level, and winners of the games played during the Welcome, My Brethren event.

At the event’s conclusion, Brother Magadia gave the closing remarks, while also expressing his gratitude not only to those who participated, but also to the CFO officers who hosted and led in the preparation for this activity.

“Cubao is one of the local congregations established by the Sugo [or Messenger] himself. To see that it has now reached its 92nd anniversary fills us with more inspiration to perform our duties and be united in all Church activities, so that we can prove to God, that as the brethren in Cubao then were one with the Messenger, we are still with one with our present Executive Minister, Brother Eduardo V. Manalo,” expressed Brother Dennis Obena, head deacon of Cubao.

Speaking on behalf of the entire local congregation, Brother Magadia said, “The Church Administration can rest assured that all ministers, ministerial workers, and Church officers in Cubao will continue leading the brethren in active participation in all of the works of the Church.” — With reports from Kate Russell Mabale of INC News Section
