Officers from the Local Congregation of Penrith, New South Wales, Ecclesiastical District of Australia East, spearheaded a Buklod cooking challenge on September 24, 2023 at Weir Reserve in Penrith alongside Nepean River.

The participants were the married members, but as they brought with them their children, the friendly competition not only showcased the brethren’s cooking prowess but also “the camaraderie between Buklod members and their respective families were even more strengthened,” attested Brother Luis Baquir, resident minister.

Heinrich Dulay, Society of Communicators and Networkers International (SCAN) officer, won the cooking challenge. Francis Alberto (active Buklod member) and Mary Ann Salamat (deaconess) placed first and second runners-up, respectively. The congregation’s Buklod officers handed over household gifts as prizes.

The attendees then enjoyed eating the participants’ entries, among other prepared dishes, over casual conversations. — With reports from Morgan Goodfellow of INC News Section
