Members of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) in the Local Congregation of Rome actively took part in the Gulayan sa Bakuran (backyard vegetable gardening) project on May 28, 2023.

The brethren held the said activity at the backyard of their house of worship compound. With the necessary garden tools, the Church officers led them in planting various vegetables, such as bitter gourd, cabbage, chayote, eggplant, string bean, and fruit-bearing plants, such as banana, chili, squash, and tomato.

This project launched by the Church Administration is being conducted not only in the Ecclesiastical District of Italy South but also in all other districts of the Church. It aims to promote an alternative source of food which has become more relevant during this time of Covid-19 pandemic.

Renato Obrador, Buklod president, expressed his joy about the backyard gardening activity: “I was delighted with this activity as it also helps alleviate the worsening poverty this world is in.” — With reports from Nicole Constantino of INC News Section
