More often than not, anything in excess is bad. And for Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) members, they will not allow anything to put their faith at risk. Bearing that in mind, the Ecclesiastical District of Catanduanes, in the Philippines, conducted a seminar on gaming addiction on May 29, 2023.

The house of worship of the Local Congregation of Virac served as the main site; other local congregations of the district connected via livestreaming.

Brother Mark Lemuel Talento, district counselor, led the seminar. He imparted awareness and knowledge to the brethren about the benefits that could be gained from playing either mobile or video games, and the downside of being addicted to gaming.

“I thank the Church Administration for organizing this kind of seminar. The seminar has helped us to become more cautious in using social media platforms, especially in playing mobile games,” said Zandra Mae Gianan, a secretary from the Local Congregation of Virac.

“Through the seminar, I’ve learned about the symptoms of gaming addiction and its disadvantages. It will not only affect our future but all the more our duties inside the Church. And just like what was taught to us, on my part, I will discipline myself in playing mobile games and in using modern technology for my mental and spiritual welfare,” said Renzo Manuel Esparas, an organist, from the same congregation. — With reports from Kyna Denisse Lopez of INC News Section
