On September 25, 2023, a non-working holiday in Australia, Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) members in the Ecclesiastical District of Australia West took the opportunity to participate in the INC Unity Games held at the Willetton Stadium, Metro Perth, Australia.

Basketball, volleyball, and badminton players, including cheerleading competitors, hailed from the Local Congregations of Armadale, Coogee, Ellenbrook, Fremantle, Maddington, Midland, Perth, Queens Park, Rockingham, Stirling, and from the Australind Group Worship Service (GWS), which are all within the Metro Perth area.

“The brethren are so energetic and excited for this event. As what the Church Administration intends for such events, the brethren shared remarkable acts of sportsmanship and brotherhood. We truly believe that this is also pleasing to God,” said Brother Felix Santos, assistant district supervising minister.

After the parade of colors, players competed with competitive yet amiable atmosphere. The basketball and cheerleading teams of Coogee were declared champions in respective fields; the men’s and women’s teams from Queens Park won for volleyball. For badminton-men’s doubles, players from Queens Park aced the championship, while those of Perth bested in the mixed doubles. There was also a 3-point shootout wherein those from Midland won.

“This activity has given us much time to have fun and enjoy the company of brethren from various local congregations. It will remain a remarkable experience for me. I will always attend Church activities like this,” said Michelle Martinez from Armadale. — With reports from Dan Matias of INC News Section
