“This school year’s Brigada Eskwela aims to prepare the classrooms, school environment, and other school facilities for a safe reopening of [in-person] classes,” said Leovigildo Domingo Jr., School Principal of Mabayo Elementary School.

Brigada Eskwela (School Brigade), an annual initiative of the Philippines’ Department of Education (DepEd), was launched to, among others, highlight “the country’s collective efforts from various partnership engagements, creating a safe learning environment for the learners, teaching and non-teaching personnel, and community to achieve safety while ensuring the delivery of quality education.”

One with the Church Administration in extending help to the community, brethren from the Local Congregation of Mabayo, Ecclesiastical District of Bataan, helped out in cleaning the classrooms and other school facilities of the Mabayo High School and Mabayo Elementary School on August 9 and 10, 2022, respectively. Both public schools are located in Brgy. Mabayo, Morong, Bataan, Philippines.

“I’m glad to participate in the activity, together with my fellow Binhi members and other brethren, because many students would benefit from this,” enthused Justin Lee Sanipa, a choir member and Binhi congregation president.

Mikael de Jesus, Buklod congregation president, said, “Members of the Christian Family Organizations (CFO) in our congregation happily united in this activity because we wanted to help the students create an environment that is conducive for learning.”

Jessica Quimlat, Head Teacher III and Officer In-Charge of Mabayo High School, expressed, “We thank the Iglesia Ni Cristo [Church Of Christ] for supporting the Brigada Eskwela. The kind gesture of the brethren was a huge help for the school. They voluntarily went here to clean the classrooms, arrange the things, and paint the walls, windows, roofs, and chairs.” — With reports from INC News Section
