Christian Family Organizations (CFO) officers from three local congregations in the Ecclesiastical District of Italy South led a series of CFO activities in June 2023, to further strengthen the bond among family members while also being of help to the community.

First of these activities was the “CFO Badminton Tournament” that Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) members from the Local Congregation of Roma Nord (North) held on June 4, 2023, at a court in Palaevangelisti, Rome. They fielded seven color-coded teams, of which the Blue Team was declared the champion; the Yellow Team as runner up.

Three weeks later, the brethren attended a Sign Language seminar at their place of worship on June 18, 2023. They watched a video presentation featuring the basics of Sign Language, such as how to sign greetings, and commonly used phrases.

Meanwhile, family members from the Local Congregation of Firenze enjoyed a fun-filled activity, which was held at Parco dell’Anconella, a park in Florence, Italy, on June 25, 2023. Both parents and their children eagerly participated in games, such as Limbo, Guess the Word, and Catch the Egg. Through potluck, they shared a sumptuous meal. Brother Dyan Barcebal, resident ministerial worker, led the activity.

On the same day, the Christian Medical Dental and Paramedical Society (CMDPS) officers of the district hosted a blood donation activity and eye care seminar.

For the blood donation, brethren from neighboring congregations in Rome gathered at the place of worship of the Local Congregation of Roma Centro (Center). They underwent screening to determine if they would qualify to donate blood.

The CMDPS officers facilitated the blood donation with the health personnel of Associazione Donatori Sangue La Rete di Tutti OdV (La Rete di Tutti OdV), an Italian non-profit association, which was also the recipient of this socio-civic activity.

“This activity is what our brothers and sisters in the faith are looking forward to as it is part of helping our countrymen, especially those who are in need of blood,” said Ronald Fernandez, district CMDPS president and choir member from the Local Congregation of Rome.

“It truly makes us happy that we can count on your community, in times of need. Every time we need assistance, there is help from the Church members,” Felice Di Iorio, president of La Rete di Tutti OdV, expressed. “Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this contribution.”

The eye care seminar was held later that same day, in the afternoon. With the house of worship of the same congregation serving as the main site, the seminar was streamed live to other local congregations.

CMDPS officers shared to the brethren well-researched information about the importance of eye health and tips in maintaining good vision. They encouraged them to get regular eye check-up, adequate eye rest, protection from ultraviolet rays, and proper eye hygiene to avoid infections.

“Health seminars, such as this, are important as it is a must that we always take care of our health,” Liezel Vilale, district CMDPS vice president, said, “especially because we use our body for our worship and services to God.”

Brother Michael Pineda, district CFO overseer, supervised the activities. On behalf of the brethren, he said, “We are very grateful to our Executive Minister, Brother Eduardo V. Manalo, for his constant love and concern for each of us. With the Church Administration’s continuous support to such activities, we not only help other people but, above all, strengthen our faith and the brotherhood in the Church Of Christ for the glory of our Lord God.” — With reports from Kim Sarmiento and Zonny Grace Del Valle of INC News Section
