“It’s overwhelming to see so many people volunteering to donate blood,” said Hannah Grace Antonio, a medical staff from Nueva Vizcaya Provincial Hospital (NVPH).

On February 24, 2022, NVPH collaborated with the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) members from the Ecclesiastical District of Nueva Vizcaya, led by those who constitute the district’s Christian Medical Dental and Paramedical Society (CMDPS), for a blood donation activity held at the Nueva Vizcaya Convention Center in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines.

“This activity of the Iglesia Ni Cristo has made blood donation accessible for those in need, such as those who might be giving birth, or those badly injured in accidents, as there are still many blood donors who hesitate to go out and donate because of fear of being infected with Covid-19,” said Jehova Olpindo, provincial blood program coordinator, and among the NVPH medical staff.

The brethren came in droves, but with the assistance of the Society of Communicators and Networkers, International (SCAN) of the district, they strictly observed the health and safety protocols, which included the wearing of face masks as well as having been fully vaccinated against Covid-19. The volunteers were further screened before being qualified as donors.

Even nonmembers were seen participating for this humanitarian activity, which Brother Roger Larona, district Christian Family Organizations overseer, supervised. “We want to be of help to our fellowmen, be they Iglesia Ni Cristo members or not. We thank the Church Administration for launching this kind of activity,” he said. — With reports from INC News Section
